Our Projects

The Center for Youth Equity's Enrichment 2 Empowerment project was the catalsyt for Streetlight. The project's mission to facilitate processes that hone analytical skills and expand platforms for discussion, and help youth tackle and transform harmful narratives surrounding violence. Our strategies ensure that youth voice is central in developing data-driven and actionable plans for change.

In this powerful and compelling comics anthology, New Orleans youth call for change. This book features stories from seven New Orleans students about their experiences in a school system that doesn’t always understand or nurture them. Twisted Garden uses fictional stories to capture and explain real life experiences. Their stories explore a wide array of subjects, ranging from the school-to-prison pipeline to the emotional journey of dealing with grief and loss in an unsympathetic school system. This work pairs distinctive, thought-provoking artwork with deep emotional authenticity. Twisted Garden presents these diverse experiences with the kind of profound insight that can only stem from the youth who have personally lived through them.
